A New World

The events of this campaign take place after Strahd has been defeated and Barovia has been freed and reentered the Material Plane on the continent of Faerûn. And after Icewind Dale was taken over by Levistus, who succeeded in his plot to thwart Asmodeus by manipulating the party to destroy Auril which granted him control of Icewind Dale and the portals to his prison in Stygia (whether he has freed himself from this prison is unkown). This campaign also occurs after the Guardians of Neverwinter freed Phandalin from the clutches of Nezznar the Black Spider. The events in Barovia and Icewind Dale took place at the same time.

Now there is a new threat growing in Faerûn. Throughout the land, cultists of the lichlord Vecna, have quietly been enacting their lord's plan to turn back time so he can return to his previous material form before the events of Kas' Betrayal. The cult have been seeking to harness the power of the obelisks to erase Faerûn and turn back the clock thousands of years in the past when the world was only one land mass, the world of Néa.

This is a world where magic was still in its infancy, where potions could not be purchased in shops, where magic items were only wielded by the most powerful of heroes and villains, and where gods had little interaction with mortals. It is a world of untapped potential, ripe for the heroes to grow their strength, but vulnerable to the threats of Vecna.

Time has been unravelled and the lichlord is being reborn at this very moment. Will the heroes be able to acheive the power required to reset time and send Vecna back to oblivion? Or will the Lord of Undeath cement himself as ruler over the material plane?
